Droopy the Snoring Dog switch adapted toy

We are adding a new switch adapted toy to the range of award winning Dream-Toys available on the Dream-Racer website.Droopy-400

Droopy is his name and he has long floppy ears and whiskers that flap as he snores. His tail wags and his body expands and contracts as he breathes.

As soon as we have a video of him we’ll update the website again.

Take a look at the larger pictures of Droopy on the website.

Good Toy Guide 2009 ... Dream-Toys overall winner

We had some fantastic news earlier this week; our Dream-Toys have been awarded "Overall Winner" status in the "Inclusive Play" section of the 2009 Good Toy Guide.

The Good Toy Guide is published every year by the National Association of Toy and Leisure Libraries (NATLL) and will be available in October as a download from their website.

In the meantime this is the certificate we received.

Switch Repair Service – information sheet

We now offer a switch repair service to help that will be of interest to special needs schools.Ablenet-switches

We’ve found that almost every school has a number of switches that, for various reasons, no longer work properly. We’ve also found that many can be refurbished to an almost-as-new condition for much less than the cost of purchasing new ones.

Take a look at the information sheet we have prepared to introduce the service by clicking on the file. In the near future we will be extending the service to include joysticks and trackerballs.

A copy of the the switch service flyer can be downloaded from Fileden - click on the link below to see it.

ACE Centre-North Network Day

On July 3rd ACE Centre North organised one of their regular network days for professionals and carers interested in the use of Assistive Technology (AT) and Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). For the forty people that attended it was an opportunity to keep up-to-date with the latest developments.

I had the opportunity to participate and presented an overview of the various fun and technical products we produce as well as some of our newer ideas we wanted to get some feedback on.

The presentation I used can be downloaded from Fileden click on this link to open for a look.
